Mind Seed was founded
by Laura M. Stanton. Laura has an undergraduate degree in Human Development
and Family Studies from Cornell University, a Masters in Family Studies
and Social Work from Miami University, and a Masters in Work, Community,
and Family Education from the University of Minnesota.
Throughout her education, Laura
has focused on the issues of diversity and multiculturalism. She recently
wrote Planting the Seeds of Cultural Competence, an eight-week
parent education curriculum that addresses the need for parents to talk
to their children about cultural diversity.
In addition, Laura is a Certified
Family Life Educator (CFLE) and is a member of the National Council on
Family Relations (NCFR) and the National Association for the Education
of Young Children (NAEYC). A large portion of her professional career
has involved working with children, youth, and families.
Laura is actively involved
in many community organizations and activities, including the Cincinnati
Chapter of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Citizens
to Restore Fairness, and served as the Director of Children's Religious
Education at Northern Hills Fellowship.
